A BALANCE counselor can go over your income and expenses and offer options for dealing with your debt.

We have formed a partnership with a financial education and counseling service called BALANCE to help our members go over their finances and develop a plan for meeting their living expenses and paying their bills each month. The services are free and confidential.

Depending on your situation, one of your options for dealing with your debt may be participation in a Debt Management Plan. Through this plan, BALANCE consolidates your bill payments and negotiates with your creditors to lower payments and, in some cases reduce or eliminate interest and fees. The fee to administer this plan is normally $20 per month, but it is free for (name of credit union) members. It is very important that you make arrangements to resolve the delinquency on your account. Please call BALANCE now at 888-456-2227. Counselors are available to take your call Monday through Thursday from 5am-8pm, Friday from 5am-5pm, and Saturday from 8am-5pm (PST).

Loan Decline Letter #1

We’ve established a partnership to make sure you have access to comprehensive, confidential financial education and counseling.

Through BALANCE, members will receive free, unbiased information and assistance. To use the services, simply call, toll-free, 888-456-2227, or log on to www.balancepro.net. Counselors are available Monday through Thursday from 5am-8pm, Friday from 5am-5pm, and Saturday from 8am-5pm (PST).

In many cases BALANCE counselors can answer your questions immediately. If you’re wondering how long something stays on your credit report or whether it’s better to lease or buy a car, you’ll get the answers as soon as you call. For more complex issues, like debt or money management, an appointment will be scheduled – allowing enough time to go over your budget and discuss options.

If bill payments are an issue, simply reworking your current budget may not be enough to help you get back on track. Your counselor may be able to arrange a Debt Management Plan and negotiate with creditors to reduce payments, interest charges and fees as you work toward repaying your debt. This service, normally $20 per month, is free to all (name of credit union) members.

Credit Report Review
A BALANCE counselor will review your credit report with you, making sure you know your rights. They can even provide a low-cost credit report for you.

In a Credit Report Review session, a counselor will help you understand the information included in your credit report, explain how your score is determined, and provide guidance on dealing with any inaccuracies on your report. Together, you will develop a plan of action to improve and protect your credit standing.

Rate Increase Letter

Periodically, we review our loan portfolio to evaluate our members’ rates on their loans with (name of credit union). The interest rate applied to your (Account) is based on your overall credit history. These rates are subject to adjustment using credit information available at the time of the review.

We have recently conducted such a review. Based on the information in your credit report, the rate on your (Account) has been adjusted. As of (Date) all existing balances and new activity will be converted to the new rate.
